September has always felt like a new year for me. As a parent, the end of summer and the beginning of a new school year have brought a sense of renewal and a fresh start. I seem to have more energy for change now than I do in January?! The beauty of September resolutions lies in their power to lay the foundation for January, offering another chance to set and achieve our goals for the year ahead.
I encourage you to take a few minutes this week to reflect on what you want to accomplish in the last quarter of 2023. Consider it a reminder that 2024 is just around the corner, and what you do now can set you up for a fantastic start on January 1.
This September, in particular, holds a special kind of significance. It’s a time to embrace the last few months of the whirlwind out-of-my-control change, buckle down, and immerse myself in the work of building Social KEWS and developing myself.
Here are five resolution ideas that I am using that I thought I would share, to help you make the most of this September and your fresh start:
– Learn a New Skill: Whether you’re looking to restart your career, change paths, or aim for a promotion, acquiring new skills is a proven strategy. As a new business owner, I’m constantly learning, and tapping into various resources to help me grow. Embrace the opportunity to expand your knowledge.
– Expand Your Network: No matter your goals, a robust network can make them more attainable. Set specific networking goals for yourself and determine how to achieve them. Attend events, seek introductions from your contacts, and engage with people through social media to grow your network.
– Set Better Boundaries: Use the transition from summer to the back-to-school season to establish healthier boundaries between work and family life. Finding a balance that works for you is essential for career growth without compromising family time. Don’t forget to take control of device distractions to maintain your mental well-being.
– Get Organised: Just like you prepare your kids for the school year, do the same for yourself. Consider investing in a planner or indulge in the joy of new stationery. Declutter your living spaces to reduce stress and chaos. It’s amazing how a clean and organised environment can boost productivity. I personally love a wardrobe clear out.
– Start (or Change) Your Exercise Routine: Now is an excellent time to begin or revamp your exercise routine. The weather is still pleasant for outdoor activities, and gyms are less crowded. Experiment with different workouts and schedules to find what suits you best.
Remember, September is not just a month; it’s an opportunity for a fresh start and a chance to set yourself up for success in the coming year. So, embrace your September resolutions and use this time to make meaningful changes that will propel you toward your goals. Here’s to a productive end of 2023 and an even better 2024!
